DeAnna Price earned her third career international gold medal Wednesday at the Pan American Games, prevailing for the United States in the women’s hammer throw with identical marks of 237 feet, 4 inches (72.34m) in the first and sixth rounds at Julio Martinez Pradanos National Stadium in Santiago, Chile.

Price, who also won the NACAC Championships in 2018 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the World title in 2019 in Doha, Qatar, became the fourth American female athlete in meet history to secure the women’s hammer throw crown, along with Alex Givan in 1995, Dawn Ellerbe in 1999 and Gwen Berry in 2019.

Brooke Andersen, the 2019 Pan Am silver medalist and winner of the 2022 World title, fouled on all three attempts and was unable to join Price on the podium.

Venezuela’s Rosa Andreina Rodriguez secured silver with a 234-10 (71.59m) performance and Canadian athlete Kaila Butler earned bronze with a mark of 213-7 (65.10m).

The Americans added a silver medal in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, with De’vion Wilson clocking a wind-legal 13.78 seconds.

Brazil grabbed the other two podium spots in the final, with Eduardo Rodrigues winning in 13.67 and Rafael Campos taking bronze in 14.04.

Alaysha Johnson achieved bronze in the women’s 100-meter hurdles final in a wind-legal 13.19 seconds.

Costa Rica’s Andrea Carolina Vargas triumphed in 13.06, with Cuba’s Greisys Lazara Roble clocking 13.09 to capture the silver medal.

Chile celebrated a third gold medal for the host country with Martina Weil emerging victorious in 51.48 seconds in the women’s 400-meter final.

Ecuador’s Nicole Caicedo achieved silver in 51.76, with Colombia’s Evelis Aguilar running 51.95 to take bronze.

Brazil’s Lucas Conceicao won the men’s 400-meter title in 45.77 seconds.

Mexico’s Luis Antonio Aviles earned silver in 45.97 and Chile’s Martin Kouyoumdjian was elevated to bronze in 46.58, following the disqualification of Colombia’s Anthony Zambrano for a lane violation.

The Americans also occupy the top two spots following the opening day of the women’s heptathlon, seeking the first gold medal for the United States in the event since 2003. The only U.S. sweep of gold and silver medals in the Pan Am women’s heptathlon in meet history came in 1991 in Cuba.

Erin Marsh concluded the first day as the leader with 3,520 points, including a victory in the women’s 200 meters in 24.18 seconds and the 100-meter hurdles in 13.39 seconds.

Jordan Gray is second behind Marsh after four events with 3,423 points, winning the high jump with a 5-8 (1.73m) clearance and the shot put with a 43-0.25 (13.11m) effort.
