2011 Pan American Games to be broadcast by ESPN

Pan American Games to be broadcast by ESPN
Beginning with the opening ceremonies this evening, full coverage of the 16th edition of the Pan American Games will be made available by ESPN. This year’s Pan Am Games, from Guadalajara, Mexico,  begin today and run through October 30. The track and field competition will be held October 23-30.

Daily coverage will be featured on ESPN Des Portes and additional coverage can be found on ESPN3, ESPN Des Portes Radio, ESPNdeportes.com and ESPN  Des Portes La Revista. Additionally, ESPN2 will provide coverage in English and a web stream will be available on ESPN3.

Beginning today the United States Olympic Committee will be posting news and updates at http://www.teamusa.org/events/6958. Also available on the site are the team media guide and photos.

Felix part of Pan American Games Presidential Delegation
Tonight’s opening ceremony for the 16th edition of the Pan American Games will feature a Presidential Delegation as selected by President Barack Obama, which includes three-time Olympic medalist Allyson Felix. The opening ceremonies will be broadcast tonight on ESPN Des Portes beginning at 8:55 p.m. EDT.

President Obama announced Wednesday that Earl Anthony Wayne, United States Ambassador toMexico, will lead the delegation for the Games. In addition the delegation will also include Felix, who is a  two-time Olympic silver medalist in the 200 meters and the  2008 Olympic gold medalist in the 4x400m.  Felix competed in the Pan American Games in 2003, winning a bronze medal in the 200m. Felix recently completed her 2011 season by winning four medals at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships.

Also on the Presidential Delegation is Julie Ertel, who is the 2007 Pan American Games gold medalist in the triathlon and the 2000 Olympic games silver medalist.
